Last night one of the spider gears on the rear end of my 96 grenaded, I can only assume due to damage caused by the 33" tires the PO had on it. Can the spiders be replaced without taking the whole diff apart?

 

I think so. I know you can pull the spider gears out to replace them with an lunchbox locker without taking apart the diff. That's what I would do, why not I mean you're already doing the work and it's not much more expensive

 

You can replace your spider gears with a locker, and yes you can do it without pulling the carrier.

carrier was pretty beat up unfortunately. found a 29 spline 8.25 that i am going to swap in instead.

 

Oh yea go with the 29 spline. Aussie is smart and doesn't make a 27 spline version of their replacement anyway
