On the carrier caps, each one has the little slider adjustment with a small bolt? I see the cap kit comes with some sort of a hex nut looking thing that the axle goes through.
Anyone schooled in this open carrier design? Can ya HEP me?

Those are metal clips that prevent the "hex nut looking" preload adjusters from turning. You can see him installing the adjusters here (skip to 54 minutes)

Different than my D35 was Lol. So cool, you set the preload by torquing to 75 ft. lbs. with the tool I think he made one with a 36mm nut welded to a 5/8 spark plug socket.
My spider gears are slapping around on the shaft pretty good, thought I could maybe get away with just changing them out. The backlash and pinion depth look very good and I don't think the bearings are bad, 156k miles. Very clean and clean fluid when I took it apart.
Still evaluating, for today think Ill put it back together with some new fluid and get my parts and plan together.
