why not run the stock knuckles/outers? the reid racing knuckles are pretty nice but $440 bucks for a pair its not worth it to me on a D30.
look at these.

if you already have a geared and locked dana30, this is a great upgrade. if these were available before i swapped in my 44, i would have considered it. dana44's don't offer a whole lot in strength over a dana30, in fact they use the same size u joints.
if you are speaking dana60's then you are crazy. nothing is cheap on a front 60.

In this ol' Wrangler that I had in H.S., I swapped the 30 front out for a 74 Wagoneer 44 front (pass side drop). In an effort to get away from the 6 lug full-time hub, I ran CJ Dana 30 knuckles-everything from the ball joints out was CJ 30 parts. The 30 knuckles off the CJ fit on the 44. No BS. 5X 5 1/2 lug.
I ran a Scout 44 rear.
Why can the same not be done on a XJ...asssuming that you're running the part-time stub shafts? Just grab your K5 44 knuckles and see if they'll fit on your 30. If 30 parts will fit on a 44, then I would think the opposite would be the same as well.
