If I park my 94 5 speed on a hill it will roll. Is this due to low compression or could it be something else. It seems to run just fine so I don't know if it would be compression. It has 307k miles. The e brake doesn't do much.

go adjust the ebrake then??
if its rolling in gear then ya id guess low compression..
or slipping in your transmission.
307k is pretty maxed out for the 4.0l's
try a compression test.
& leakage test.

Mine with 336k i can park it on hill and just rely on the trans but the mj with 222k will roll so i agree with above do a compression test and adjust the ebrake and you should be fine

If the parking brake "doesn't do much", that would indicate your back brakes aren't doing much.
I know you don't need to hear this from me, but you need to do something about the brakes before somebody gets hurt.
My Comanchee used to go wandering off (while in gear) shortly before the top end went, so yeah, probably a compression issue.

Lifting the jeep would tighten the e-brake cable, not loosen it
...and from the evasive nature of his responses, I'd say he knows what's up with the parking brake.
