Please explain doesn't work?

Stuck in Neutral? Are you moving when you go to engage the 4lo?

your linkage might need to be adjusted

when you pull back on the lever for 4L, it might not be engaging the tcase

easiet thing to do is soak it with pb blaster or wd40 (linkage)....then work the lever....something might be hung up or stuck

First off, are you shifting like this?

Here's how the factory suggests you shift the transfer case and I've been doing this since these things were new and I worked at the dealership. Quoted from the owner's manual. The suggestions in ITALICS are mine.

"To engage, shift the transfer case lever from 2H to 4H while the vehicle is moving at any legal speed". I let off the gas, throw the lever, and then tap the gas and let off.

4L position: " To engage, slow the vehicle to 2-3 MPH , shift the transmission to Neutral, then shift the transfer lever to the right and pull firmly rearward to 4L".

To shift out of 4L, shift the transmission into neutral with the vehicle stopped, shift the transfer case lever to 2H, then to D if you have an automatic, or into first gear with a manual, and continue on.

Secondly, are your engine and trans mounts shot?

Thirdly, after making sure the mounts are good, adjust the linkage per this:

I had same problem when I bought mine with a cheap jury rigged lift 3" would not shift to low. I know nothing even before I found my home here . So went to a 4x4 shop fixed in 15 min. adjusted the linkage. Best part "No Charge".......but I have paid for it since for sure.

Go adjust the linkage first. Real easy. Look up the video of how to do it on YouTube. Basically just loosen the bolt on the rod, shift the tcase into 4 lo with some channel locks, then with the shifter handle in 4lo, tighten the bolt back down.

But what if he adjusts it first, and then finds out the mounts are bad?

He already said that his mounts are good.
Even if the motor and trans. mounts are "bad" adjusting the linkage will still work.
