Default 4 Wheel not working

I have an 88 xj 4.0 automatic not sure on the trans case but i have the problem with the vacuum motor not doing its job which i know is fairly common i was just wondering if any one can post a walk-through or something to that effect(pics appreciated) on how to convert it to the cable thanks, Dan

if you order the posi-lock cable it will have directions in it. you simply remove the old actuator and bolt in the new one and route the cable.

the major failure on those motors is actually the actuating switch on the transfer case witch you can identify by 4 different color lines coming out of it. the ball inside it will get stuck and cause it to fail, the other is braking the hoses or a stuck motor. you can take the motor off and apply oil to it while blowing air in the far left or far right hole to make it slide back and forth till it is noticeably easy to slide, the switch on the otherhand is about 10 bucks or so and is easy to replace.

Simplest fix, get some nuts/washers and slide the fork over and keep the axle shaft connected.
