4 banger mpg?
how many miles per gallon are you other 4 bangers like me getting? i know im not getting any more than my cousins 01 4.0 and there has to be something up with that, so the real question here is, what brand spark plugs, air filter, and other regular tune up parts do you buy?

My '99 4 popper XJ got 18-19 city and 28 on the highway(as long as I didn't go over 70) That was with 3+" of lift and 30x9.50's. That thing was very good on fuel. My new 4.0 auto sucks! Maybe get 14 city 19 highway, and it's 100% stock. Putting my new ev6 injectors in tonight. hope it helps some.

not sure about mine cause my odometer doesn't work... but im guessing its about the same as a 4.0 . like with my 4 banger i have to floor it everywhere just to get it to move...i had a 4.0 xj before and i didn't have to do that... so id say its about even.

The 4-banger gets better mileage on the highway for me. When I'm in town, climbing hills, etc, I think I get the same or worse mileage than an inline-6, simply because a smaller engine needs more throttle to pull the same size chassis.

thanks for the input, i think im gonna try some new champion plugs and wires and such and see if that dont help....and also, never try the supreme and such fuel, because even though the fuel lasts longer, you pay more for it cause i tried it

Just my 2¢, I've had great experience with the E3 spark plug. A lot of people will tell you to go with the basic Champions or whatever is stock recommended, but I've been impressed with the E3 for power and economy. Put some seafoam in you tank too.
