Question about a 4.5" lift? I'm about to purchase RC 4.5 inch lift. Do I need long arm suspension? http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_4.html This is mostly a DD, but I'll be doing a little offroading here and there.

if you want it to ride and flex better.yes.

i dont have long arms. i had adj upers an fixed lowers...IRO brand.

mine is 4.5 with 3" packs and shackles with 3" coils and spacers. 33x12.5 with 15x10 rims. i have to trim alittle more. you do not need a drop pitman for 4.5.once you go over that you prolly will. adj tb will be needed or a drop bracket.

im having this same problem, i cant decide to go with 4.5 or 3 lift, i am going to get the rubicon express lift and want to run 33's, but with the 4.5" wont i need to spend on pitman drop and sye kit? im also looking at 4.5 in long arm kit does that make a difference in needing to dropkit and sye? or would i be fine with long arm 4.5, 33" tires and some shaving and be done? i dont want to put a lift in then realize i broke something because i left out a kit or was just too ignorent to care ya know..

Ive been looking at similar set up as what you want but think Im gonna try a bastard pack with the F150 coils and a few extras listed in budget builds and see how I like it.. I can pick up all the needed parts at a neighbors salvage yard for about 100$ then if I like it go for a good lift kit.. BTW Ive been told "DO NOT BUY A ROUGH COUNTRY" its not worth the couple $ u save. Im a disabled vet on a pension plus a single father of 2 both less than 8 my son I just found out was blinded by his last operation. So to get back on topic. Im doing the budget lift then buy higher quality add ons then I get it built n lifted piece by piece on a payment plan situation. BTW.. Im running 31" with no lift kit and only rub I get is in a very hard turn.

i was thinking about doing a bastard pack but i need new leaf springs on the rear anyways so i think i might as well just get the ones i want. ive heard good and bad about rough country. i think i am going to go with the 3 or 4.5 inch lift kit from rubicon express with the front adjust track bar and some 5100 series blistein shocks. but i really need to know if i need a transfer case drop, sye kit or any of that if i go with the 4.5 inch. ive been told that with the 3" itll be fine but what about tire width too? i need to go with 10.5 or can i do 33x12.5? maybe if i add some wheel spacers or something like that? or will they clear?
