Default 4.5 lift or 3 inch lift

i have a 96 stock 2 door xj manuel.
i am considering 3 inch rough country lift or 4.5 inch rough country lift. i want to put 33 inch tires on there.. is it possible for me to fit 33's with 3 inches of lift.
other question is it possible to get 3 inch rough country add aleaf kit and coil kit and also get 1.5 inch spacer and shackle kit so i have 4.5 inches?
last question do i have to drop transfer case and pitman arm with 3 and 4.5 inch lift?
thanks, Rob

with 3in lift you will have to cut to clear 33's. add a leaf dont flex as well. spacer is fine with front springs. i am runnin 3in lift front springs and spacers. if you have vibrations do the transfer case drop. if you run drop pitman arm you also need to do a drop bracket for the track bar to keep things lined up normally. i would do a crossover and adj track bar.

btw might as well go 4.5 once you go 3 you will want to go more.

4.5"... I have an 01 XJ and went with the 4.5" lift and still had rubbing issues with 33's. I have them mounted on 15x8 rims with 3.75" backspacing... I had to trim my fronts a good amount and I cut and folded the rears...

4.5 man I've got 33x12.50 on 15x10 I,ve had to trim but not much, I only rub when I'm really wheelin the **** out of it, Oh and spend the extra coin and get a full leaf pack or get the 3in leaf pack with 1.5 shackle {better flex}

Yup, go for 4.5". I bought my jeep w/a 3" lift on it, and I said, that was good, but now I want to do 4.5". Do the long arm kit if you can. Cuz later you'll prob want to anyways.

I have the 4.5" full spring pack from rustys and love it. i have 32's under it which still rub under full flex till i extend my bumpstops. so imo you will have to do some trimming

question: how much does the add-a-leaf negatively effect flex? and does it really matter if this is for my dd which rarely sees offroad action? i'm a college student so i'm on a tight budget but would like to do 4.5

i have a 3" lift with 33" tires and no rubbing. i personally know a good handful of people who do the same and have no rubbing.

lift doesnt make the fender openings larger, the tire will still end up in the same place

Verbatium.
I'm at 2.5" and 33's, some bumpstop and some trim... I've been at 2"-2.5" for 8 years, no desire to be taller.

I had a 3" add a leaf for a several years. It flexed to the bump stops. The thing is though is that if you do that very much you will over flex it and take the temper out of the center of it and it will either break or sag. If you run shackles, this will be worse because those springs are designed to run on an angle. With 4.5" of lift using a shackle, you will be guaranteed a driveline vibration and then need a SYE to correct it so you won't be saving anything over a full spring pack.

Are you talking about aftermarket shackles, "extended"?
