Default 4.0 Jeep Cherokee having bogging issues

-Hello everyone I just picked up a 1988 Jeep Cherokee 4x4. Today I took it on a mild trail in 4x4 (nothing crazy).

-My issue is when the jeep is on leveled surface (highway or off road 2wd mode or 4wd mode) it runs fine but as soon as I articulate and stay there a little or go up a steep hill on a trail slowly it bogs like its about to die (I lose all power HP)..

I have researched and searched some more but there are too many different bogging issues people have.( couldn't find any similar issues)

So any input would be great this is my first Off road vehicle and I am a newb to Jeepin or off roading in a 4x4 willing to learn. Thanks in Advance !

Vehicle info
-4.0 Inline 6 (stock)
-Automatic
-157k miles
-4inch lift on 31s

Ok... something that happened to me. The connector to my fuel pump wasn't making good contact (the connector in back by the fuel filter) it would move a little and my pump would cut out intermittently when I got to large angles. Something to check.

Doubt its anything like that if its only happening on inclines. Fuel related sounds like something loose. Don't worry.

So i found out that this issue im having is mainly when im trying to back out of a hole in 4wd (in a decline)? Im stumped seems like if i rev it in neutral then put it into reverse it stumbles and boggs a little somtimes dies then but eventually it will move...Weird

The fuel system is pressurized so it works at pretty much all angles. It is strange that its doing it with the noise pointing down because all the gas in the rank would be at the pick up. Did you start it and get underneath and mess with the pump wiring? Something has to be loose if it doesn't do it during normal driving

Yeah if you haven't given it a tune up since you just got it, do it anyway. You might just have a clogged up fuel filter. Let us know what happens
