Default 4.0 head and manifold reinstall

rear exhaust stud broken off causing gasket blowout, i removed head to repair, in the process of removing the manifolds it occured to me that in order to torque the exhaust manifold bolts will not be too easy. does anybody have a trick to do this? what about installing the manifolds before the head? I think this would make it quite heavy and awkward but at least I would know they were tightened to the proper specs. by the way this is an 89 cherokee with the 4.0
surely I am not the first one but my 900 dollar cherokee needing brakes and exhaust doughnut has been taking a lot more of my time and money than anticipated good thing is I am pretty handy and have not had to pay a shop
thank you

I just used a right angle socket adapter and extension. Was able to torque all the manifold bolts that way.

I broke my intake manifold when I did mine because I could not easily use my torque wrench. If you decide to say "F*** it" and tighten without be real careful. The replacement I got from oreilly's was 230 dollars.

If you have the head off you wil never have a better chance to replace the lifters.

I use a small but strong magnet to get the lifters out.
