Hello All I have a 88 Jeep Cherokee. and I already have the head of the Head is a 2686 and badly cracked. I was looking at the block Numbers and I'm a bit confused.

Casting number Drivers Side. EF8933002665CJ
Casing number Passenger side 8IIMX03


The confusion i am having is, I think this is a 4.2 block as the numbers I am looking up for 4.0 blocks are not matching. Can any one Give me some info and a good site to decode the block numbers? I'm not having much luck with the numbers.

 

Casting number = Jeep 4.0l 1987-90......53005535 (8933002665)
The MX in the 8IIMX03 date code translates to = Jeep 4.0l engine. Built on 03-oct-1988 or 03-feb-1988. (not sure if the month is 11, or ii=feb)
