Default 360 Swap. needs advice

So i found an old full size Cherokee at a barn down the street from me and I come to find out for a mere $250 its mine. it has a carbureted 360 V8 in it with a Dana 44 rear axle (no idea what gear ratio). Any idea if the 360 would fit into my '98 xj and if so what i would have to do to make it fit. or do you think I would be better off with my I6. i have no idea the mileage but the own says he put the 360 in 4 years ago but decided to store it in the weeds because his wife hated the gas milage.

believe it or not, 360 is tougher than a chevy 350-- only becuase there is TONS of aftermarket support for the 350 conversion-- checkout novak.com-- they have a FAQ on it..

That being said, if you're a good fabricator, anything is possible.

Go here for dimensions:

http://www.carnut.com/specs/engdim.html

They are fairly heavy at 600 lbs. Mopar 360 is about 550.
Parts availability is so-so.

You'll be better off with the 4.0 inline.
