Default 33s vs 32s

Hey i got 32s now and it doesnt get the best MPGs or the best acceleration and all that, i knw i should go to 4.10s but when my tires run out, how much worse would it be if i went to 33s on stock axles? next set i get will be all terrains so that might help make up for it in terms of drivability. but i mean is that like a huge threshold to pass or is it okay to run these 33s? ive seen the gas mileage i get on 32s so will it be THAT MUCH WORSE? aight thanks guys. btw i got 32 bfg MT now and im thinking of going to 33 BFG AT

it wont be THAT much worse but you will notice it. as a rule of thumb generally the cut off point for gearing is anything bigger then 33's. with your c8.25 you will not have a problem running the 33's. the biggest thing is the loss of power/MPG. but it is doable.

pretty much what i figured. i thikn since theyre at's that'll help. CLutch is gonna hate it though so i probobly wont do that unless i swap out the clutch as well. How long do the clutches usually last? i try not to slip it much but it gets annoying b/c of the tires.

i went from 32 at's to 33 boggers and my mpg sucks. i'm gonna regear sometime in the future. prolly to 3.73's cuz i don't want to go to 4.10's but you will be able to run 33's with the 3.55 gears.

i don't want to go any higher than 3.73's because this is mostly a daily driver. i take it off roading probably 20% of the time and i still need to be able to drive on the highway. i don't do any rock crawling which is why i bought the boggers to begin with. around here it's all mud and trail riding

yea but 3.73s are a lil on the small side, your gas mileage will be better with 4.10s

i know they're a little small but i really don't want to go that far because the gears aren't that bad now, but it would give me a little better mpg

If you have 3.55's currently, going with 3.73's is a waste of money cuz the change is VERY little. You will hardly notice the difference. Your main concern for gas mileage would be those boggers. they are nasty when it comes to gas mileage.

mines a manual so its got 3.07s i think. this is where im confused. if you got a 4.0 and an automatic trans and 3.55 gears, youd put in 4.10s to run 33s... everyone agrees on that... BUT if you got a 4.0 and a MANYUAL trans you have 3.07s, so to run 33s would you go up to 4.10s? seems like a huge reduction in gearing.

yes you would go up to 4.10's

you could grab some stock axles from an auto and run 3.55's. However it is not set in stone by any means that you have to run 4.10 for 33's with an auto. Many people would run 4.56's with an auto for 33's because you can also run 35's in the future without much power loss.

Well i found an explorer 8.8 with 4.10s and a LSD and disk brakes set up for cherokee spring perches but i dont have the time or resources to swap in a new axle, its only $300 though which is cheaper than the $500-600 its going to cost to regear the back.

that is well worth it. the swap probably takes all of 2.5 hours, im sure you could find that amount of time within the next couple of weeks. just grab a buddy.
