why would you want to take off the shackles making it 4.5" with 6.5" still on in the front?

what kind of wheeling do you plan on doing? i like the size lift and RC isnt bad at all, i run it. im just asking for the tire selection. but yeah i would def. go 10.5 wide.

you are correct about the break lines. people would suggest a SYE kit but there are also people on here that will tell you that you dont need it if you get your angles right.

He has a 2000 and is more than likely gonna get vibes with 4.5 or 6.5. I would consider one if i were you.

First.... Ditch the ThornBirds. Unless you are planning on wheeling the mall parking blocks.

You might as well get an aggresive AT rather than Thornbirds.

Second... Why would you lower your lift in the rear??? Going for an old school California lean???

Third.... Want to run a big lift on a late model? Stop trying to half-*** stuff. It costs significantly more money to run lifts larger than 3". Get used to it. Do it right the first time. It will save you ALOT of headaches later.

One more vote against the Thornbirds. No offense, but they are garbage. They shouldn't not even still be in production. You'd be much happier with a different tire, IMHO!! Keep us posted on what you do, good luck!!

I am on the ditch thornbirds bandwagon too. They are a terrible ride, and you will need earplugs to drive.

this is how I know

now thronbirds are not the greatest tire but they do have their pros and cons, just like every tire.
IMO i have thought about getting a set, yes the ride sucks but hey this is a 4x4 not a cady. they are an AT not a mud but if you get down in ruts the side lugs really dig.

I had 33" Thornbirds on my F250...Worst tire I've ever owned. Had them 4 months (yes I did abuse them off-road) and they came apart on me. It's not fun going 40 mph down a two lane rural road and have a tire come off the wheel of a 6500 lb. truck.

From what I've heard, you can't keep them from cupping like freaking crazy either!! It's just what I've heard.

True dat. Just get LTB's. They have HUGE outside lugs and HUGE surface lugs. They dig and claw their way out of ruts easily and sling 3 lb chunks of mud all over the place.
