Default 318 in a cherokee?

so yea i was at advanced today tryen to find a way to fix my break lines and 1 of the guys who had helped me said that he put a 318 in his cherokee with 8.5 inch lift with 37s.when i asked him how much for conversion he said all he did was drop it in and made his own motor mounts

if i can do this that easy u guys might be seeing a lime cherokee with a 318 in it soon but can it be done as easy as he said?

I'm all for keeping a Jeep fully Jeep with the exception of maybe axles but when it comes to the 318 vs SBC I'd go with a SBC... or even a 302 ford.

I like Jeeps but the 318 isn't a Jeep engine, the 4L is the last remnant of real Jeeps and it shows in the quality of the builds.

I sure would. I had a friend a long time ago who bragged about how great Ford was and for some reason he had a Turbo 350 in his Mustang. I have never owned a Ford besides for Jeeps with the 4.0 I usually stick to GM.

i'm a hot rodder and i believe you gotta stay brand loyal ford in ford, chevy in chevy, mopar in mopar, and so if at all possible..i'd look into this guy telling you it was a drop-in deal story seems unlikely don't know for sure if the bellhousing is the same from 4.0 to 318 and that can open up all kinds of fun...and so forth very few things are"drop-in" unless you are working on gm trucks and full size cars
