Default 27 MPG possible??

Hi, is it possible in any way with new Bosch 4-hole injectors to get a 1996 4.0L to run 27 MPG? Is it possible if the best coil, best air filter, best plugs, best TB spacer is used?

Realistically? No.

Down hill everywhere... sure.

I doubt it. Maybe if you lightened it by, oh i dont know, 2500 pounds! but without messing with the already lackluster aerodynamics.

Maybe it could be made to be more aerodynamic?

Since the OPs question has been answered, I wonder if anyone has ever considered (or actually tried) some sort of hillbilly cylinder deactivation?

ok, thanx. Its a guy on another forum that claim he has measure it twice, one time to 27 MPG and one to 28.34 after new bosch 4-hole, new blaster coil, 63mm TB spacer, NGK, davis rotor and cables.
What is the best realistic MPG you can get 20?

hm.... I see that there is different MPG on US and the one in Norway
http://www.automobile-catalog.com/ca...0_limited.html
So if 27 MPG is possible on a new car, isnt it possible on a old car with better injectors than what exist in 1996?
But why is it so big difference in MPG, its the same horsepower?

I did a road trip from NY to CT @ 60 MPH, everyone passed by me on the interstate, but I got 23MPG. On the way back @ 65 MPH I got 20MPG. That's bone stock, I6 4.0L, stock injectors, etc...

Not possible. Maybe if you had a small diesel engine in the XJ, then yes.
