231 transfer case in rain
So I have the 231 T-case and today it was raining pretty hard and the ground was soaked. I had it in 2wd and I was sliding around everywhere. I threw it in 4H and got some more traction. I know it's bad to drive on pavement with part time but is it ok to drive in part time when it's raining hard?

No..
This is the reason for the fulltime option on a 242, heavy rain and snow. The issue with the 231 is the transfer doesn't differentiate between front and rear axles allowing the front tires to turn without binding.

So how can you use this transfer case without binding. I'm going to some trails on Sunday. What's the difference between trails and rain

Trails/dirt will allow more slip between the tire and the driving surface.. compared to Asphalt or Concrete road surfaces.
Unless your virtually hydroplaning the slip isn't there in rain..

Never had a problem with 4hi part time on pavement. If you need 4x4. It's slipping enough for the t case to handle. If its not slippery then Why would u need 4x4?

Sliding around in rain? Slow down. Its that simple. Put better tires on it if you need them. I have to really try to make my Jeep spin or slide on wet roads, even with mud tires with no siping. Wet roads aren't near slick enough for 4x4, and its not good for the transfer case.
