2000 XJ speaker wiring question
This past weekend I pulled the door panel off of my diver's door in order to repair a broken speaker wire. When I got the wiring harness unplugged, pulled through the door and unwrapped I found several broken wires.
Fast forward...
I have repaired all the wires with the exception of the + and - for the speaker. Somehow I managed to lose the diagram I made that outlined which colors match up, so I got out the voltmeter and searched the web for wiring diagrams. I ended up determining the + wire was dark green and the - was brown with a red stripe. Now comes the confusing part. When I turn the radio on I get 5+ volts to both the + and - wires. That's at the plug behind the kick panel so I know it's nothing in my wiring. I can't imagine that's correct.
Has anyone else seen this before and if so, is there known area (besides inside the door boot) where these wires get frayed and can transfer voltage)?
Thanks.

I do. Put it in myself a few years ago. The speaker used to work fine so I'm 99% sure the stereo wiring is correct. I am going to pull it out soon to replace it so I can check then.
