I Pulled on the parking brake handle today and it popped and released all tension. After opening it up, I see that the bracket that holds the brake cable bent and the cable pulled through. I bent it back enough to hold the cable but I’m guessing it will pull through again.
Anybody have any repair tips? Is the only safe solution to replace the entire parking brake handle?
Was it that the "jaws" spread open or did the "hole" get wallowed out? If it's a "jaw" type, I'd fashion some kind of clamp to keep it secure before replacing the entire assembly.
A bit of both. The jaws spread apart and the hole bulged and expanded.
I ended up bending it back into place as much as possible then fabricated a small part from a steel washer. It's holding well so far. I'll most likely replace the entire handle if I can find one at a local yard.
