Hello,

i bought an 2000 xj with no heat.
i took of the actuactor for the blind door, and it seems to work fine when putting power on it on the bench. But when i install it in the car, it wont turn (move blind door). So Im thinking that it must be the heater switch thats bad? Or is there some fuse or something i can check?

thanks

With the actuator assembly removed from the bottom of the heater/AC box, can you reach up and actually move the blend door? If it's stuck, that might explain it.

If you hook up the actuator motor connercor but leave it off the heater box, will it turn when you move the temp **** with the engine running?

No i dont move when hooked up to the car and not bolted in. It only moves outside the car when hooked up to an batteri with 2 wires on the bench.

Yes, but i never heard of an actual switch going bad?
Det problem got a little weirder, because when messing around today trying to find our what was wrong, the heater blower also quit.. Checked the nr. 25 fuse (15 amp), and it was blown. Checked the relay behind the glovebox, and the relay was "burnt" on 2 posts. Well, i replaced the relay and the fuse, but the fuse keeps blowing, and no heater fan.. what?

I believe there is a known issue about the wires melting behind the control panel on the 97+ models. I'm sure someone else who knows for sure will chime in and verify if I'm right, and flame me if I'm wrong, but you may want to remove your control panel and take a look at the wiring and connections. If you keep blowing fuses, something is shorting out.
