2000 Jeep XJ and brakes. I deliver mail, With my jeep, but Jeep does not have anything that let you know that your brakes are about to go out! Anybody have a solution? I am sick and tired of replacing the rotors!

You’re assuming that my brakes will last 3500 miles, I’m not sure delivering mail, most vehicles have a noise it will put it off when your brakes are ready to be changed, Jeep does not. I have to replace my brakes at least three times a year.

So, how many times do you change the oil in a year?
The pads are shared with Ford or GM. Poke around and I'll bet you find some with the scrapers on them.
Don't buy the cheapest pads either. False economy.

What brand are you using? You might want to consider a racing type set-up.

I hear you dude! I deliver newspapers and I go thru tires as well as brakes! If all you do with that jeep is deliver mail and you want to save the rotors, use the cheapest set of organic pads you can find and change them often. Otherwise, use a good grade of semi-metallic pads and be sure they have squeal clips. Still keep an eye on them since the clips are generally only on the outer pad. Make absolutely sure the caliper pins are properly greased and there are no wear grooves in the brackets. If you have to weld up the wear grooves, use a hard metal rod to cut down on repeat wear. You would think by now someone would have made stainless clips that would eliminate the wear grooves, but no, the only clips I've seen are to take up length-wise clearances in the pads. You're going to replace rotors anyhow, but if you can get 3 sets of pads between changing the rotors, you're doing good.
BTW, I believe the original calipers are made by Teves. If so, they are a problem constantly on WJs and that's why they changed to Akabono for the front dual piston calipers, but the rears are still Teves.
