Is there any functional difference between a 2000 and 2001 manual trans ECM ?

The only thing I could think of is whether the '00 one is a Federal or CA Emissions one.
'00 could be either. I am under impression that most were CA Emissions ones though.
Also believe that all '01's are CA Emissions.
There are only 2 O2 sensors on a '00 Federal Emissions Jeep. 4 on a CA Emissions one.
Going to assume if you used a CA Emissions computer on a Federal Emissions '00
that the computer might wonder about the 2 missing O2 sensors.
Don't quote me on any of this. LOL.

Sounds right to me.

Another issue would be SENTRY. If you have it now, the replacement will need it as well.

SENTRY is an optional factory anti-theft. The PCM contains the VIN. The key uses a chip programmed for that specific VIN, and read by the transponder in the column. If the VIN doesnt match, the PCM shuts everything down. if youre not sure you have it, SENTRY keys are gray. Regular keys are black.
