Default 2 questions only i swear...

1st. I noticed 2 freeze plugs with bolts in the center of them leaking. Easy enough to tighten up. Stopped leaking.....for bout an hour. After running it again checking some brake work, its leaking again but now i cant find from where and its leaking MORE! Does this sound like a pressure issue from the closed cooling system?

2nd. The brake proportioning valve. I understand how it works, and why i need it. What im wondering is should there be a little pin sticking out of the front endcap? Cause mine just has the hole in the cap. Heck even the rubber boot on it has a piece that fills the little hole. So im just wondering if maybe the little pin/piston thing is dislogded somehow, and needs to be recentered.

Thank you everyone who can respond. It is greatly appreciated.

freeze plugs- if they are leaking you have to drop the intake and possibly exhaust manifold to replace them. Are they rusty? if so replace them.

The freeze plugs you have are the universal type mentioned above the should be replaced with brass or copper not steel the ones you have are rubber. As for the proportioning valve do your brakes work ?? More front than rear or vise versa ? The pin is actually a rod that runs through the valve to operate the switch as long as its not leaking and the brakes are working (all four ) the only issue you will have is no brake light

Yes my spelling suck..

As to where it's wrote could not say but it's been a rule as long as I've been a moderator.

So I enforce it..

that's a really funny rule. as if it makes any difference if the guys posted "hey I still need help please" or bump.

the bump is typically only frowned upon when used in one's own for sale thread. whatever though- every jeep forum I am on is bass ackwards in one way or another.

Padding/Spaming
8. Do not pad or spam post. This includes posting continuous one word responses that do not pertain to the subject at hand. This also includes excessive advertising through out CF. No bumping of threads are allowed, this is considered as padding.

We will be editing these rules as time goes on and we feel more or less needs to happen with CF. We thank you for your understanding and we also encourage all to post in the suggestions section of CF with questions regarding our rules.

Found this in the rules.

Sorry for bumping. I guess i have just seen it done on all the other forums i read, and applied it here. My apologies.

They are not rusty, one was simply leaking a little so i tightened it up. Then it leaked a whole lot more from unknown area. I filled my pressure bottle after tightening them an today it was completely empty, filled back up havent burped yet, worked some more on heep and watched it....NO COOLANT LEAK! Some one lose there ghost? Said ghost needs to move on to somebody else's vehicle. So i ran vehicle up to temp, let it build some heat/pressure and still no leak. I just dont know. I really dont understand this jeep.

This is only my second XJ ,i had the exact same model/year back in '94 cept it had the 4 cyl/5speed. Now i do have a '43 ***** but it was before jeeps time i believe...hehe.

Thanx for the responses.
