How can a stat have equal pressure on both sides?......unless the motor is off, of course.

The origin of "Marketing Hype".......people sitting around a big conference room table figuring out/dreaming up ways to "boink" their fellow man. Then they have the audacity to call themselves "experts/professionals"

So it appears this thread has gone down the road a bit lol.. Well for whatever reason my jeeps temps are back up to normal now that we are out of single digit temps here. I guess that is just how it is. For those who noticed my earlier post, my son was born 11/22 and I'm finally home after 4 days in the hospital lol.

Congratulations!

Something tells me your XJ hasn't fixed itself though.

Cardboard in front of the radiator, or a 500 degree thermostat, should help it.

Surely a $30 Mopar stat has at least a 90 day warranty, no? It could be swapped for the optional 500* stat.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure what I'll do with it at this point other than use some cardboard on really cold days. That 500* stat sounds pretty good though lol.

It's actually not a new design. It's been around for years...........

I have ran them before in various cars I've owned, and I never had any trouble with them.
('76 Firebird Formula 400, '84 Oldsmobile Delta88 307, '69 Plymouth Sport Fury 383)

Anyway, I thought I would try one in the XJ since I had the issues with the Motorad Failsafe ones..............

Here's some info on the design.
