So the door in my Cherokee is sagging so bad that it no longer lines up with the striker and it has split the metal that surrounds my door latch.... has anyone had this problem or a possibly fix... my current fix was to might weld the steel that holds the latch inside the door. But my welds just broke off afyer a couple weeks of slamming the door

I will post pictures to explain my problem in a bit when I get a chance to open my door .... I'm driving around town at the moment and I don't want to risk opening my door as it might not close again... I have it slammed shut and locked to prevent it opening

How do your body side door hinges look? It sounds like your door hinges may be the issue, however if your door is just out of alignment that can easily be fixed by adjusting the door side hinges to align the door properly.

The hinges in the body side are tight as far as I know.. I think its just the holes in the door side of the hinge that are worn causing my door to have some up and down movement... this has caused the door to drop below the point where the striker latches inside the door resulting in the striker hitting the door just above the latch and broke the metal all the way around the three bolts and the latch has been pushed into the door and it no longer operates..... kind of a chain reactions of bad things happening because the previous owner did not address his worn door pins

Ahh didnt realize that your jeep was a later model. If the holes for the pins are wallowed out you could always drill the hole on both the door side and body side hinges to allow for a larger pin to be used, or hell even a big nut and bolt.

Something I was thinking was to cut the entire section out of another Cherokee and resold it into my door... but then again I could just swap the entire door
