Looking for suggestions on how to free up the latches on my97 XJ the rear passenger is froze shut as well as the rear lift gate. Myprogress so far has been to spray GIBBS rust penetrant on the mechanisms,lightly heat and attempt to move them. The rods move but the springs and therest of the latch don’t want to. I'm starting to think my Remington12g with"OO" might free them up...but then I might have to go look for a doorand gate at the very least. Any suggestions before I get to that point would beappreciated.

 

I don't know if you shot it yet but id check the child safety lock and wedge the door open with a screw driver and poke the tab with another one. if there are turned off i know getting a plastic wedge for falling trees or a kit to open you door when you lock your self out might work.

Ive heard if you flex on something hard enough your back doors can pop open and i know you can force them open!

 

Thanks for the insite. I actually have a buddy that has air bags that we're going to try to check the child safety latch.
