Default 1999 4.0 Automatic computer needed

Went in for 3rd time, still didn't pass inspection. Again had Catalyst NOT READY and O2 NOT READY. Does anyone recommend a respected site to buy a new or rebuilt comp? There are 16 on ebay with warranties for $100-180, but I'm not sure how to tell which will be an exact match. Lots of parts numbers listed atm. Any suggestions would be great.

I believe the not ready indicator is only telling you the vehicle hasn't been through enough start and run cycles. The computer has to have so many cycles with no issues before it indicates a functioning system. This is most prevalent after you erase codes or disconnect the battery. I think I had to drive mine 10-15 rimes before the O2 and cat systems showed ready.

When I needed a TCU I searched and found a new OEM for less than a remanufactured one at http://www.oconeeoffroad.com/servlet...pringsale/Page

Ended up ordering one through Auto Computer Exchange on ebay. $169, arrived within 4 business days and was programmed for my Cherokee, just had to reply with VIN# and mileage. Now to do some drive cycles and reinspect by Tuesday. Will let you guys know if it cured my problems.
Also, if you send them your old computer they will give you a lifetime warranty .

Didn't pass inspection Tuesday. Still got 3 NOT READY sensors. Downloaded "TORQUE" from the Android Market and ordered a bluetooth OBD2 dongle so I can monitor the sensors. Its a great program and if the free version works out I will definitely buy the full version.
With tons of reading I have come to the conclusion that either A: I just haven't put enough drive cycles in or B: I have a bad fuse or two and the sensor readings are being erased with each restart.
Going to get some 2 gauge wire this weekend and redo all the grounds from the battery and alternator then run some drive cycles when the bluetooth comes in. Will update accordingly.

Yeah, computer had nothing to do with your problem. Some of those monitors take a while to reset after batt is disco. If they are getting ready to throw a code they will take even longer, I have seen 100s of miles to set. Will most likely throw a 02 code. To set o2 sensor monitors start car, put in drive, with foot on brake for 10 min or so. MUST BE IN DRIVE and at idle, or slightly above. Also make sure the gas tank has more then half tank of gas, it will help set the evap monitors quicker.

Yeah I tend to agree with you on the other computer was probably still good, but at the time I was willing to believe the "mechanic". Hindsight is 20/20 as they say.

Got the bluetooth OBD2 Adapter, but it was faulty. Sent it back and got the replacement which works. Torque is an awesome app. Seems my sensors are getting READY but clearing when I shut off the engine. I guess I have a bad ground somewhere and its losing memory. Sometimes out of the blue my voltage meter reads nothing but the engine still runs fine.
Bought 8 foot of 2 gauge welding cable. Going to get off my **** this weekend and redo the grounds. Will reply with findings. Any ideas are appreciated.
