Default 1998 Jeep Cherokee aw4 4.0l transmission problem

Hello everyone so I have a 1998 4.0 aw4 xj sport and it’s been having some shifting problems anyways I bought the Jeep drove it with no issues for 4K miles one day the transmission started slipping real bad so I limped it home and checked the fluid it was very burnt and black. I bought a transmission from someone off Facebook marketplace and my friend and I installed it I’m not sure if we did something wrong or installed the torque converter in wrong but anyways I get the trans in and all the fluid and connectors hooked up And I go to take it for a test lap and it seems like it doesn’t want to shift correctly it has some lag before shifting and I believe it’s not shifting into OD so I scanned it and got a speed sensor code and my speedo wasn’t working so I replaced that and it fixed the speedo and nothing else I then scanned it again and got the po700 code for the tcm so I ordered a new one and replaced it still hasn’t fixed it. Any help is appreciated I’m running out of sanity and money 🤣

3 things I would do.

download the FSM
Adjust the trans kickdown cable
test resistance of solenoids via one of the 2 connectors going down near the bellhousing (p0700 can mean a failed OD solenoid, bad wiring etc)

CCKen walked me through this process a few years back when my transmission was acting up (ended up being a bad solenoid). Here's the thread: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/doe...-legit-195669/

x2 on checking and adjusting the throttlebody to trans cable. If that's not connected or misadjusted it can shift very slowly or even not at all. Also test the throttle position sensor (TPS) as the trans computer uses that plus the output shaft speed to determine when to shift.
