Default 1998 Cherokee will not start

I have a 1998 Cherokee 4.0l that when you turn the key it does nothing no interior lights dimming, or tries to start i.e. no clicking or turns over. After a few times of trying to start it will start. But no work was done. I have changed out the starter, starter relay in the engine compartment, battery, neutral switch and the ignition switch. It went away for about 6 months when I changed the neutral switch and it has came back. Any suggestions Thank You

Welcome to Cherokee Forum.
Try starting it neutral. If it cranks it the NSS. Good luck.

I did last time it happened and it started that is why I replaced the Neutral safety switch. Which by the way it is not cheap. lol I tried it again yesterday and it did not start. But after trying it about 30 times it started right up several times.

I happened again last night. I checked the voltage going to the starter. I had 12 volts going to the battery side of the solenoid and nothing on the the other side while trying to start it. I swapped out the stater relay with another one in the compartment and it happened again today. Same thing as before it would finally turn over and start after about 20 times.Any suggestions? I might check the rigging for the NSS to make sure nothing is wrong with it i.e. adjustment.

The rigging of the Neutral switch was good. I took the starter out to get bench checked.

I replaced the starter and no go. I inspected the harness to the NSS and found a partial chaffed wire. Repaired it and fixed. Running like a champ again.
