Ok, so the jeep is at the shop getting a new head gasket, and before I took her, I decided to stop by the jeep yard and get an upgraded gauge cluster because my base model came with the dummy lights and huge fuel gauge. I got it hooked up and everything seems to work except for the oil and water temps. Now, I have read that some sending units or sensors have to be switched, and that is where I am lost and can't find the threads explaining. What do I need? And where do I change? Fix? Duct tape? Lol
...man, 16 years later, she finally has a tach! Happy sweet 16 baby!

You need to get the oil pressure and water temp senders that go with gauges instead of warning lights. They're different.
The oil pressure sender is mounted near the oil filter, the water temp sender is on the driver's side of the head way at the back.
You'll find a second water temp sender in the thermostat housing- leave that one as-is, it's for the ECU, not the gauge.

Ok, so I am stuck.... I thought I had it figured out, but I guess not. I picked up the sending units, and started by hooking up the oil first. once hooked up, the gauge stays at 80 + (all the way to the right) when i turn the car off, it slowly drops back to 80. as with the temp, I havnt tried to hook that up, I think the mechanic killed the wire on it, becuse I am pretty sure i found the unit, no wires to it, and one straggler wire hanging out of the harness going through fire wall... i will take pics..
when you purchased the oil sender unit, you made sure it was for the guage and not the dummy light correct? i'd also check the grounds, and look for a short, just my two cents. someone will probably come along and give you the solution.
