1990 xj stalled
So on my way to work my cherokee stalled out on me at a light. Came to a stop it sputtered after about 60 seconds of clean idle and died i restarted it with out issue. It hasnt had any running issues since ive had to repalce the coil and icm for a no spark issue. Everythign else is ok to my knowledge. It runs like a top minus the ticking noise that comes and goes. Any ideas? I have a trip this weekend and i dont want to be stuck off road miles from a parts store and its only happened one time

90 is non obd so no codes. It did something similar going home last night and to work this morning but while driving it would sputter and loose power. And when starting cold it would start and die then i can restart it and it runs fine till it sputters. Im thinking the fuel pump is on its way out. But im not sure. All the engine bay grounds are ok ive done most al of the crusier bible last time i had a no start issue. Its my daily driver and im hoping not to wait till its done done for me to fix it

Do a fuel pressure test. Pump could be dying out.
My 88 did that and it was a fried ground wire inside the tank going to the pump.

Well i took my roommate to get some of escondidos finest mex food and it died on the road right in traffic had to push it off the road. Checked fuel pressure or pressence of fuel pressure none at the valve. It was seeming like a tps issue as when it would die it would just stop running no sputter like it was starving for fuel . I did the test method we use at work for electronics and thats the punch it in the dick method. I smacked the tps and nothning jsut crank spark and die over and over. So i pulled every relay abnd wiped off the un godlly amount of dilectric from the pins ans smacked each and everyone agnst the pressure bottle bracket. It fired right up. Im guessing that thje fuel pump relay is having issues. I will replace that guy tonight. If it keeps up i will have to do a pump. I dont want to as it kinda sucks. And with my luck it will quit with a full tank. I just dont want to be stuck ontop of pancake rock this weekend. Think i may have to postpone my run

No I did last time. I left the dielectric in there. All the pins looked good. They still do I think the relay is just burnt out. I haven't taken the plastic off yet. I put a new bwd relay in. Hope it's fixed

Dielectric is NOT conductive. OxGard IS.

Ok I'll have to get some. I just did a 17.8 mile ride home as a shake down. A lil idle fluctuation AR first start up. But seems ok now

You mighta gotten it. Good idea to use OxGard, available at hardware stores, sparingly on contacts.

I usually look at relays / fuses as something to check and change over time as part of routine maintenance (and keep extras in the glovebox). Cool about the Ox-Gard, wasn't familiar with that product.
