1989 xj wont shift?
i have a 1989 jeep cherokee inline 6 automatic, i just put a transmission in it and it will shift into reverse just fine...... however when i go to shift into drive or any other gear it wont go without giving it gas like alot .... no its not the tranny because this is the same thing the old tranny would do and this one was tested. i think it may be a TCM sensor and ive read that you can unplug it and manually shift.... how do you do that?

The TCU is under the passenger side dash. This could be as simple as a blown fuse in the harness near the TCU. Poke your noggin up under there and check it out.
