Default 1988 4.0 no start

they are working on the streets in front of the house so this morning at 4:30 am I go out to move the jeep and no start, cranks but wont start, too early to troubleshoot . I leave it and the grandson is nice enough to push it out of the way . When I get back from work it starts right up no problem , its been raining so its my duty to drain the water from all those holes in the unpaved alleys.Anyway long story short I hit bump and it dies I have lights, door buzzer but no radio or heater .Now it wont crank just a click

Crawl underneath and try tapping the starter with a hammer.

Key On, what does the voltmeter read?
Key to Start, what does it read then?

Check connections, things could be coming loose since you hit bumps and it dies

No voltage with key on or at start. According to the voltmeter in the dash, which did work before the temp guage moves a little at start but that's it

Most likely a battery cable and/or ground issue.
