The speedo on my 01 jumps up and down when i turn the steering left and fully dies when i turn the steering left also when i drive over bumps it fluctuates and dies i have replaced the speedo sensor twice and cannot figure it out.
You have asked this same question 4 times in the past. You have not responded to any of the suggestions in the previous posts. Have you done anything other than replace the speedo sensor? I'd say after replacing it 3 times that its not the problem.
The 01 dash is computer controlled, so there is no direct connection from the speedo sensor to the dash. The signal runs through the computer and a signal from the computer makes the needle move. You would likely have other issues if the computer isn't getting the speedo signal. Cruise control and transmission shifting would be affected, you would probably get a diagnostic code set as well.
Does cruise control work? If so, the computer is getting the signal from the speedo sensor. Then its probably a problem with the instrument cluster. If cruise doesn't work you probably have a wiring harness issue from the sensor to the computer. You mention that the problem occurs when you are turning left. Look at all wiring harnesses that are in the area of the steering shafts and steering components. Since most XJs in the US are LHD we are unfamiliar with cable routing in RHD.
Download a service manual for your XJ. There are many available, just do a Google search.

True thanks for the response, i have been struggling with this issue for a while, i took the dash apart today and checked ther wiring it looks fine no breaks, i scewed the clips of the harness so they do not move, my cruise works fine, but the only time the speedo cuts out is as mentioned when i turn left or sometimes when i accelerate, i am leaning towards the clock spring now, since all the wiring looks good, do you think this could be a possibility, my horn works, and no airbag light, but when i do turn my steering right it is more heavy then when i turn it left. thanks
As you can see in the FSM, the speed sensor connects directly to the PCM. The speedometer is connected through a data cable (Twisted Pair) from the PCM. This cable sends all of the instrument cluster data shown plus more on the next page.
This points to a data problem, either from the PCM, the instrument cluster itself, a bad module on the Twisted Pair buss or the Twisted Pair cabling and connectors. To be thorough I would check the Twisted Pair cable and connections from the PCM to the Instrument Cluster for any issues, including the one for the Transmission control module and the Air Bag Control module. These modules all talk on the same buss. 2001 XJ FSM

Dont forget all those sensors like the fuel sensor and VSS are all on the same ground back to the PCM. So that rules out a bad sensor as his fuel gauge would start to rise up until all gauges shut off from the PCM. So its not behind the PCM its probably the PCM or after. IE: PCM itself, Twisted pair, Problem with gauge. But by the sound of the "turning left" problem my first place to check would be the turn signal switch for a short to ground or voltage leakage through the switch to the ground, left turn signal rear grounds etc. I would also pull the instrument cluster apart and look at the circuit board for shorts, cracks in solder joints and fried components.
