00' Cherokee starts on second try
Have a 2000 XJ with 207,000 miles. I thank you guys who replied to my last post. I just got this Jeep and first off changed the oil, flushed the radiator and threw in new fluid, and put new tires on her. The transmission fluid/gasket/filter is going to be changed tomorrow. When i go start the jeep it doesn't fire always on the first try, but does everytime on the second try. Is this a battery issue? If so i suppose i'll add a new battery to the list. Just trying to make a checklist of everything i should do/change to make sure she stays in top shape. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Love this Jeep, want to keep it alive forever! Thanks

Try turning the key on for 2 seconds, off, on for 2 seconds then crank. If it fires then you're loosing fuel pressure and having to re-prime the system. Could be a leaking fuel pressure regulator (check the vacuum hose for fuel and replace it if there is any), pump check valve, or leaking injector(s). There are other possibilities, but loosing fuel pressure is my first guess.
