Default 00 cherokee new fuel pump Recommendations

I have a 00 cherokee that i use strickly for offroading. I now have a bad fuel pump and need to replace. I am not trying to spend alot of money but i would like to put a good pump in there.

bosch would be sweet but they are 400 bucks.

Airtex NO, JUNK. to many bad experience with them.

Does anyone know anything about the carter ones.

Or if you have a better idea for a great modification or something let me know.

I am open to ideas, but i would like to put a whole new sending unit in, not just the pump.

Let me know, what you guys have done in the past

I've heard mixed reports on the Carter, but anything is better than an Airtex.

Bosch is absolutely the best, but you are correct in that they are the most expensive.

Bosch is pretty good, Accel isn't too bad either and they have decent distributors if you're looking at swapping that too. I would recommend getting a high-performance distributor/cap if you are getting the whole bosch system (lines, pump, etc.)

At rockauto a bosch for a 90 is $80. 6 years ago I installed whatever Napa handed me and have had no problems. Was 70 something I think. Good luck!

I see, AIRTEX is junk, I bought it, installed it and than I read here only bad experiences. But here was nothing else to buy. Now I'm scared, that Airtex will be dead soon. I want to ask about OMIX. I found this on internet http://justgastanks.com/product_info...oducts_id=3964 if this will be O.K., I will try to order it from USA and let it in my garage as spare. I will never buy Airtex again.

You found a tread a few years old. A few have posted not having had trouble...Myself, I might carry any decent spare and just run it and see. Here, if mine went out on a Friday, I might not get another till Tuesday.

I haven't had any trouble with Omix stuff. Bosch is good, Wellbro is another.
Carter makes quite a bit of OEM stuff, I wouldn't have worries about theirs either.
The airtex might run quite a while if it hasn't failed yet. They seem to suffer infant mortality- dead in a few months. Keep the tank more than 1/4 full so the pump stays cooler.

Thanks I know this is old thread, but it's about fuel pumps nad it's better ask here, than creating new one. I was searching about Airtex and I start worry. I want try Omix, I will let it in garage and when Airtex will die, I will swap it.
