Baby Steps. I will look into the suggestion of "wiped bearings." First step, of course, mech gauge test today.
Well you're doing pretty well so far! Many people - including myself - learn here.

Most important lesson when troubleshooting is to test first. Anything else will get expensive in a hurry.

Don't bother - he is a troll.

Would it have any impact if I pulled the I'm-just-a-girl routine and admit that day 1 post-vc gasket change I drove with CCV disconnected? Dumb, I know, but oversight...
No worries about the CCV disconnected for a day.

Actual oil pressure of 0, as stated, would be very obvious as the engine would be making a LOT of noise due to a total lack of lubrication. There is no reason to believe you have any mechanical issues yet.

Actually, around here it would. There was a poster who identified herself as a woman in the post title several months ago. It was a routine radio install thread.

I think she ended up getting about 6,000 views and well over 350 responses.

If it was a guy, he might get 70 views and 10 responses if he was lucky on a post like that.

Heaven forbid if a lady started an oil thread............................I probably shouldn't have even said that.

Haha -- my angle for identification would have been a little different though -- stupid pride would tempt me to ID myself as a female ONLY for the purpose of "excusing" my exceptionally remedial questions. Seems like many, many CF folks are very knowledgeable, but as a newb, I'm still looking up the terms of art that are natural to you. Try to imagine knowing what the tool you need must look like, but not knowing what it's called. Now imagine having the AZ guy tell you loudly that it's a "hex bit," NOT a "really, really big allen wrench." This is where default hair-twirling helps. haha (stereotypes? yes. Feminist, I am not. I doubt I even qualify as PC).

I am grateful for even ONE helpful answer

Contrary to popular belief, guys are not born knowing this stuff.

Everyone is a newb at one time or another.

The only foolish question is the one not asked.

Silly Goose!

That's a newly rebuilt short block just installed. I used Aluminum tape to protect the upper end while I dicked with other matters..unlike most red necks.
