Here is a pic of your '99 Oil Pressure Sensor. The wrench hex is 27 MM. The threaded portion is 1/8" National Pipe Thread.

If you are looking into buying a replacement sensor and you can't get an Mopar sensor, see if you can get an Echlin sensor from a NAPA store.

I have a manual gauge hooked up to my t-stat housing and the only time my jeeps ever gone over 210 is when all the fins were clogged with caked on swamp mud

Btw I would be careful taking the oil pressure sending unit out. When I got my first jeep a few years back i had upgraded from the idiot lights to the actual gauge cluster and busted the thread end of the old sender off in the threaded section and had to have it tapped out at a shop. I torqued on the thing hard though(Embarrassingly I had started in the wrong direction).

Firestorm500 and Salad - PO put a Mopar filter in only about 6 weeks ago. The secondary reason I didn't change it is because the VC gasket change project overwhelmed me (6 wks ago I had ZERO personal experience), and I figured I had better make sure I didn't screw that up first before trying my first oil filter change. Baby Steps. I will look into the suggestion of "wiped bearings." First step, of course, mech gauge test today.

Bigbadon - I think PO mentioned Quaker State w/ a qt of Lucas. PO changed out the oil/filter, but was otherwise a "middleman," so I don't know the Jeep's true maintenance history. An oil write-up of Salad's along with others I read prompted me to give Rotella a try. Prob didn't NEED an oil change just now, but I also ran a can of BG44K through it 3 wks ago, so I assumed that helps muck up the oil a bit.

Southsidecatac - See above, and I apologize for getting your panties in a bunch. I'm exceptionally adept with learning "concepts" from written sources, however, I am still struggling with applying "my new knowledge" to my machine. No worries - with continued constructive, helpful, and relevant posts like yours (re clueless souls), I am sure to keep learning and I look forward to having an informed and enlightened mechanical discussion with you someday. Have a great one!

OMG!!!! IT's pretty irritating that I'm not getting royalties from that pic Thanks though - funniest AND scariest thing I've seen all week.

And THANKS FOR THE ("other" underhood) PIC and boltsize ... should speed up my learning curve! Much appreciated.

I would like to know how using duct tape for a head gasket works out for him.

You guys need to learn to keep your eyes open; my first clue as to gender was "blushes" in post#9. (Sorry for the sexist comment but most guys are not going to admit to blushing in connection with their studly Jeeps)

Gender really shouldn't matter in an automotive forum but always lurks (thank whatever gods may be).

OPs last several posts show that she is quite capable of subtly taking care of herself when thrown in amongst the heathens.

The first thing you need to learn is that anybody can be anybody on the internet.

CHANGE THE FILTER. You don't just change oil and flip to synthetic and not change the filter. Big no-no. And you make sure that it's either a Wix or Napa Gold filter, not the orange can of death. (Fram)

Too late now.

With 0 oil pressure at idle, the OP, regardless of gender, has got a lot more to worry about than a little cross-contamination.

This "a lot" to worry about...still true if 0 read at idle only happens well into drives? At any rate, I don't intend to do future oil changes w/o filter too-just wanted to get the Rotella in there. Anxious to manually check oil pressure but cant do so until after work.
Would it have any impact if I pulled the I'm-just-a-girl routine and admit that day 1 post-vc gasket change I drove with CCV disconnected? Dumb, I know, but oversight...
