Default Vote: Maryland & DC in Mid-Atlantic..NOT North Atlantic???

I put up a poll ( https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f41/vo...lantic-113895/ ) to see if folks want to keep in the way it is, or as I feel...should never have, and should be changed so that the DC metro area (among other areas) is returned to one central area. That means moving (or returning) Maryland and DC to the Mid-Atlantic area and removing it from the North Atlantic (or better described as North East).

It was a very poor choice to split MD/DC from VA. DC region is a very strong community and even though I'm new, I can already see the negative and disconnected aspect of this current layout.

Please visit the poll thread to vote if you post to either section (Mid-Atlantic or North Atlantic). But even if you're not, I'm sure a discussion (perhaps the site admins can explain).

Just bumping so folks see the link to the poll. Hoping to get some votes on the issue, so management can see if there is a need for change or not.

Thanks.

I think the link isn't working and since I can't edit my original post:

Never got a moderator, admin. or other response. My poll clearly shows that folks want Maryland to be located in the Mid-Atlantic neighborhood and NOT northeast. Maryland as a whole does NOT associate with the other states in the Northeast section. This is especially the case due to the fact 80% of Maryland users are within the DC Region therefore are located very close to the VA area.

I see that from the postings, it has been a real issue for communications for Maryland members but also for northern Virginia members (already in the Mid-Atlantic section) as they are missing about 50% of the activity.

We need to get this changed.

I actually exchanged some messages with a MOD over a year ago on this very subject and he agreed that Maryland & DC belonged in the Mid-Atlantic area and not the NE and he said he was going to change it. Nothing happened.

I made the map years ago with input from most regions. Time have changed if it needs to move that is fine. But ya dont have to call me out with it being a poor decision lol. I polled the forum and there where many mods to the map prior to it being released lol.

Pm. Okcjeeper and point him to the thread. He is our admin and can make those necessary changes.

Also reporting the post gets our attention faster.

I actually did both. I too was ignored. That is why I suspect it may have to go higher. It also may require a lot of report posts, PMs etc. But that is hard because many will feel out of place "reporting" a thread or PM'g someone. I don't mind sticking my neck out (done so a million time) but not everyone is like that. Look at the vote numbers vs. actual comments.

I am not going to say it is anyone's fault or anything like that. Bottomline is it is clear that the members want it changed. I am persistent and will keep at it until either it is changed, other members say otherwise, or the admins/owners post that they won't change it.

I like Maryland being North Atlantic - it's the same way over on NAXJA - Maryland is part of the NAC chapter.

We (the Maryland thread) has lots of guys from Virginia and DC areas also. It's not hard for someone to look in the NA section if they live in Virginia - they know what states they live next to.

Good points, but I think the overall point is at by a large majority (poll suggests a nearly 30:1 ratio in favor of the move) the members want to have Maryland in the Mid-atlantic.

The majority of us in Maryland go north to wheel, not south. The majority of the people we wheel with are from northern Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New England (and a few stragglers from NoVA). I just don't see the point in splitting up that grouping - it's pretty hard to argue with that much connection between Maryland and the other North Atlantic states. In fact it's VERY rare that i hear of anyone in the Maryland thread going wheeling in VA or anywhere south of us.

Doesn't matter regional mapping is not changing. We try to keep on track with the same flow as the major sites. It keeps things simple. NAXJA is a major site that has regional chapters so we try to mirror this activity incase there is a need for over flow info for events and such.

So with that said no real need to discuss further.

It must be a Jeep thing then....all the other forums and sites always kept the DC area states together. You do, at the very least acknowledge that the majority of folks polled do want it changed though, righht? I know your e admin, and I guess that is the final say?
