COS's Colorado ADV Motorcycle Camping Trip:
So I had to get out and see the mountains. As you can see we still have a ton of snow up there!!! So much, there may be trails that do not open this year! I went into Taylor Park, and managed to log about 150 miles of dirt roads in there.
My steed:

On the way up Cottonwood Pass:

There was a drift twice this depth, but it was not safe to stop a photograph it:

On the way to Mirror Lake, well almost:

I stopped shortly after this section. The snow was too much to deal with on this bike!
Mirror Lake:

Yeah, still 95% covered in ice!!
Home for the first night:

Backpacker's ice chest:

After I set up camp, I hiked up to Mirror Lake, and shot some photos along the way:

Getting ready to turn in:

These are some shots of Tin Cup. An old 1800s town, that is still active today:

After getting up and around, I wanted to get in some geo-caches that I had put in my GPS unit for this trip. There is an old cemetery outside of Tin Cup, and there is one there. I love old cemetaries, so I had to check it out! The foot bridge that led to where the cache was had been over taken by water, so I just looked around the cemetery, and skipped the cache this time. Here are some shots I took:

Very ornate iron work:

Still active today:

A cache I could actually get to:

Typical contents, just trinkets and stuff:

Some shots around Taylor Park:

Some shots of Union Park:

Pie Plant townsite:
Old Pie Plant Mill remnants:

I had another shot of the townsite, but it didn't turn out, so here is the only one I got:

After farting around for several hours, I decided to get my camp site squared away:

I picked a spot I have camped before, right along Italian Creek. The road was snowed in about a mile up from where I camped!

Some shots around camp:

This creek was about 3 times it's normal volume!

Some shots of American Flag Mountain...AWESOME!!:

I got out that afternoon, and took some more pics:

Got back to camp, and had to modify the MASSIVE fire pit someone built....this outta be plenty of room:

Sun was setting on my night:

Packed up the next morning, and got a shot of Rainbow Lake on the way back down Cottonwood:

I had a ball, and can't wait til the next outting!!

I was thinking the same thing....there are a ton of really great places in this state, and surrounding states, I have not been. The motorcycle gets at least 40 mpg, and I can camp right off the back of it, so it's a win win!! I have not driven my truck since Tuesday of last week!! LOL!!
