here is my roof rack now.... its got like u bolt lookin deals. or all thread. and the threads are a mess. which makes it where i cant really tighten it up good...on the trails and on curvy roads it slides back and forth on the cross rails. so im really looking to get a whole different rack. and i really want lights up there too.

I'll just wait until you post a pic of a finished bumper (not tube). As it looks right now, that's pretty ugly. The front piece appears to be perpendicular to the ground, and looks like it's eating up a good 2 or 3" of approach angle. I'd be very interested if you made one that wraps completely to protect about 4" of sheet metal fender, and with a backward slope to provide a decent approach angle.
Here's a link to the style I'm looking for.

it actually hangs down less than the stock bumper, as for using it as a skidplate/ ramp ill tell you how it works out after fun in the desert on the 24th and 25th in jonson valley.
whether no matter how you shape it if you want it to protect the front it has to hang down that far and if you hit the bumper on something then its doing its job, its made to protect the front.

I might be wrong, but I'm thinking that the potential customer might have some say (within reason) concerning how the product is designed - especially since they're built to order ...? I do have a front hitch that isn't going anywhere, and it pretty much protects underneath, and with a "ramp" type devide inserted, it does pretty well at deflection. But it's mounted deeper than the bumper. So there's always a chance that depending on the terrain the bumper could make contact first. A "ramped" design is what I prefer.
It's okay if you can't do it ... I'm still shopping around and I won't settle for something I don't find aesthetically pleasing.

i know what you mean about the customer calling the shots, as of now (the next few weeks) im not going to do a plate type bumper like your wanting, the one in the pic is made out of c channel and there is no way you are bending a corner of that into a 45. if my square edge bumper catches a rock i just back up and give it more gas lol.
i am going to make some tube bumpers real soon as i havnt seen many quality tube bumpers around for a reasonable price.

How much do you charge for one of the racks? Can you mount them to the factory roof bars?

4x4 rack is 150
4x5 is 220
yes you can put them on the factory rails, everyone seems to use u bolts to do that. imo gutter mounts are better.
