I know this might sound stupid to a lot fo you off-roading people here but I was wondering if the 2wd front axle is a direct swap to a 4wd jeep xj. I am trying to gain oil pan clearance as well as camber through the means of a v-notch in the middle of the axle, which is impossible with a 4wd jeep xj. I know that would also mean it would be smarter to buy a new rear driveshaft to eliminate the transfer case but I don't know what/where to buy one. if any of you have good recommendations besides don't 2wd swap it that would be greatly appreciated!

Besides saying don't do a 2wd swap, just buy a 2wd..... yes the front 2wd axle is a direct swap. Also in regards to removing the transfer case, if you do that, you are also buying a 2wd transmission...

a beam axle is a direct swap. if you want to eliminate the tcase then you either need to change the output shaft in the 4wd trans or get a 2wd trans and new driveshaft
