Default 2wd to 4wd swap?

i have bought a cheap 2wd jeep and am buying a 4wd jeep for really cheap and it dont have a title so i want to see if is possible to make my 2wd a 4wd thanks for your time

well my 2wd is a 91 and the 4wd is a 94 but i was thinking of swaping eveything front and back axels tranny ect. why would you have to have to same year?

just makes it easier if youget from tranny back crossmember front and rear axles shafts it should be easy

i hear its very easy everything should bolt right up and there should be an access pannel that unblots for the shifter for 4 wheel drive to go threw the floor

so what do i have to do with the vacuum lines for the 4wd for the lights in the dash do i have to swap the dash out?

There is a way to lock it in for good. I saw it on here once it involved a clamp or something. I was thinking it would be easier to swap the v.i.n. unless the 94 is in rough shape in general.

it's not too hard, and they don't *have* to be from the exact same year, especially if you have a donor vehicle.

i bought a real clean '99 5spd 2wd, and later got a cheap rough-running '96 auto 4x4 for a donor and swapped everything over three days time and now have a '99 5spd 4x4!!

unless you want to open the 2wd transmission to swap the output shaft, you will need to swap it aswell. I don't know what tranny you have but keep in mind that 1991 is the year when the ouput shaft of both AX15 and AW4 switched from 21 splines to 23.

I have got the swap done last week everything went very well. The only think that didnt swap was the transfer case skid plate. The welded in nuts in the frame are no in there in the 2wd jeep but my 4wd works great cant wait to go on a run
