My washers are also operated by the rear wash switch - & there's no rear wash, part of a PO's conversion when he binned the reservoir in favour of a snorkel. Why he didn't connect the single pump to the wire from the wiper lever I've no idea but may have something to do with what I believe is that wire being live all the time, albeit at reduced power (if my dim test light means anything). Something I'd really like to get sorted, but there always seems to be more important things to do.

This has a piece of a CD behind it to make it more gooderer. The main box tab was cracked back to under the tip of the CD.
Still have not used the part. Just a spare.

 

I removed the 24 year old "Tesa" tape from my fuel injector wiring loom. Cleaned and inspected the wires. They look good. Then re-wrapped them with fresh Tesa tape and some new wire loom where needed.

Doing this in preparation for new injectors I'll be ordering from Trevor at the end of the month.

 

hAHAHAHAHAH piece of a CD! Well that works a lot better. I should have uploaded more photos as I did put more reinforcing around the bolt holes. The plastic is so old and brittle it needs all of the support it can get. Its obviously cheaper to do this than buy a new one. JB weld has its place but its not that good for thin applications and/or places that might flex. That is where these metal staples shine. Of course these are chinesium and will probably rust but I'm sure they sell stainless staples too. Think of all of the applications - battery box, body parts, a bracket on your kids toy, etc.

I couldn't take a picture cause it just kind of depressed me.
But I lost one of my grill inserts somewhere.
Just noticed it but have no idea when or where I might have lost it.
I looked for those things for the longest time and finally found some used.
And I loved how they made my Jeep look.
One person noticed the look I was going for.
To resemble a '98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 grill.
Figure since I have the hood louvers and tire cover from one I like the theme.
And for the most part nobody has them on their Jeep.
Got a fair amount of questions about where I got them over the years.
Funny thing is am not anywhere near as mad about it as you would think I might be.

Finally got the head back from the machine shop. All cleaned up, magnafluxed, and pressure/vacuum tested with all new valve seals. The TUPY is ready to be torqued down!

I did take advice from you guys and cut off the heads of a couple bolts to turn them into alignment dowels. I carved in a slotted head so I could unscrew them. I did crush my left middle finger in the process of dropping this on though

I also did use a 1/2-13 tap in all is the holes to clean rust and gunk in some of them and then used brake cleaner to clean and degrease them. Otherwise setting the correct torque would be compromised.

After that I’ll button most of the accessories and else on and prime the oil pump (until oil comes out of the pushrods) and then finish it off.

 

So this happened last night.

Know how I always tell you guys that I really don't drive much and the '00 is the only vehicle I own?
I would have to check my files to be sure but thinking I have had my '00 for about 10 1/2 years now.
And bought her with 147K and change.
LOL.

 

Are you retired or just live close to work? My parents, near 80yrs old, have been driving that much for several decades now. The car dealer goes bananas when they trade in a mint condition 5-7 year old car with 15-20k on the ticker. They only put premium fuel in and always follow the maintenance guidelines. They’ve never had a mechanical issue with their cars ever.

 

Lived about a 1/2 mile from work while I was still working for the first 6 or so years that I owned the '00.
And been retired for the last, give or take, 4.

nice! Just rolled the 2000 over to 371,000. Hit 24.48 mpg last trip thru the divide. A new best and the tank was topped fully each time.
I do not play the let the pump tick off once and call it 'actual mpg' thing since not all pump islands are level. It is tip top full.

 

That is really good MPG through there.
Went to school at DU a thousand years ago (LOL) so pretty sure I remember the "Divide".
I'd be careful about filling up the tank that much.
I read something sometime back, that to be frank did not really understand, about messing with the Evap/Purge system or the venting or something.
My gas gauge is slightly off best I can tell. When I do fill up I never seem to need quite as much as the gauge makes me think I need.
I usually don't let my tank get below 3/8ths. And I like to fill up completely when I do get gas. So I go in, give them more money then it would cost, fill up, and go back in for the change.
But after the click I round up to the next dollar and sometimes I notice the needle past full sometimes.
And then I think about that crap I read, again that I didn't really understand, about putting in too much gas.
Every once in awhile when I think of it throw in a thing of Lucas and dry gas before I fill up.
Saved a bunch of the small containers that people threw out when buying it at my store who put it in there tank right there.
So I just buy the big bottle and refill the little ones. Hey I am cheap. LOL.
Saved a bunch of the little Heet containers too and just fill those with 90% Isopropyl Alcohol.
Keep 'em in the Jeep and like I said here and there when I think of it.
I average about 22 MPG on the highway. Thinking 14 around town.
My overhead says about 16 MPG between the 2.
And when I first installed the overhead and had to take a longer trip I kept track.
The overhead pretty much said what I came out with from my calculations from the receipts so.....
One time screwing around on a trip to the boneyard I jumped on the highway, reset everything, got in the right lane with the cruise set
at 55, and with the little over 13 mile trip on just the highway averaged over 25 MPG.
LOL.

 

nice! I bought my current XJ in 2005. I think it has 186k miles on the odo. I dont drive mine as a daily and maybe put 100-200 miles a year on it. I just drive it to the offroad park and back a few times a year.
