Hat tip to D&E in the Garage.
Heavier weight will do that instantly. We run 10-30 Mobil1 20k mile oil at 349k miles. Exceeds the zinc for a 2000 and can't beat the price per change with rebates.
Currently about 55psi at idle when cold but of course that will droop once it is hot to about 40. The 0331 head is still going strong.

Tested the Nexens without beating the crap out of her. Great Sand Dunes NP.
4Hi and some 2wd at the top. Was prepared to air down but all seemed fine at ~31psi.
The climb out on Korean, 17" all seasons (from just above Sand Pit).

I think we have now seen enough to attempt Medano Pass on our own.
This is the Castle Creek area where you can drive right up to both the creek and the dunes.

Worth a peek if you are in the area.

That is all..

Default Wacky gauges - 98 jeep cj

So I drove to the VA Hospital in Togus, Maine for a checkup. I should have had them check out my JEEP...The gauges went off and on and the one that worried me was the Alternator gauge - not charging? draining the battery? -- YES. stopped at a Stop Sign and the car went dead. Wifey jumped me, then we jumped the car. New Alternator installed - $453.00 - Gauges worked again. Then, after I stopped for a road beer MICHELOB PLATINUM LIGHT --- They started going on and off - Sometimes turning the headlights on and off they came back on. When this beautiful girl in a Wrangler stopped to see if I needed help...I woke up. Now what do I do? --- search the Forum and Youtube. Cheers

Friday - I started my mopar reman 2004 WJ power steering pump install, but the renix pump has threads where the new one had none. real fun. Prayed to Jesus that I wouldn't break the high pressure line when I had to bend it.
Saturday- I cranked the tensioner to max and the belt was still squeaking. The last time I started the car to test it, the idler pulley blew across the room.
Sunday- Replaced the idler but then wondered why I was at super duper max on the tension bolt. I got a new belt and fu finally everything works great. I can't tell the difference with the pumps but someone told me a long time ago the renix had a super strength pump compared to later models.

pro tip: when you swap the fittings, take them off with the pump still mounted so you don't waste 10 years with hand tools.

Yesterday I discovered that one of my carrier bearings is toast. I was starting to put it all back together and found out that one of them is seriously galled.

Now it looks like I'll have to go through the setup process and start from scratch.

Anyone know the best way to get all the parts I need? I have seals, I just need bearings, shims and a pinion nut. I looked at "kits" but they either have too much stuff I don't need, not enough stuff I do need or are very confusing on what is actually included. Rock Auto let me down for sure this time. Should I try one of the 4WD online retailers? Jegs?

Oh and some set up bearings. I guess I'll be making those.

So with that project a bust, today I did some much needed cleaning; inner fender well I picked up yesterday, hit a replacement axle I also got yesterday with JB, scrubbed the OE bumpers I bought a couple weeks ago, cleaned my oil pan inside and out(working on replacing the rear main seal), finally got some primer on my grill surround(front header) repair, cleaned a little where the inner fender wells usually go and the general area under the front.

Speaking of sag!
It hauled 450 pounds of 16" brickface steps up Poncha pass with little effort.
Its last task before switching to 20k mile Mobil 1 (from 15k mile). At least now the suggested filter change mileage matches the oil. We will still change at 12-15k as dusty as it is here in San Luis Valley CO. As such we also cleaned the cone filter.
The 20.x pound one footers were only hauled around to the front.

I had to replace one on my driver's front door. I forgot what it is called? I think I got mine at Napa and it was a pain in the butt to replace it!

I have a 2004 Grand Cherokke with an issue in the AC/Heat.
The fan blows great. A/C works, heat works. But very little air comes out of the vents, even on high.
THe actuator on the passenger side works, it isn't that. Anyone have an idea?

Made an appointment at the local 4WP for a front end alignment. All the other shops don't want to touch a lifted vehicle anymore, something about "liability"

That, and they hire anyone right off the street, that don't even know what a wrench is, let alone how to use one. Smaller shops are getting harder to find.
