For the '99, '00, and '01 engines, you won't need the USCAR to EV1 adapters.
My story: I bought really cheap injectors from Ebay ($45 for all 6) however they started to fail on my after only a few hundred miles. Oops!! What I had bought was re-manufactored injectors, and they came with the wiring harness adapters. They were actually two different injectors w/ different part numbers: 0280155784 ('98 dodge neon/status/caravan/etc) and 0280155923 ('00-01 Cadillac DeVille, pointiac, oldmobile, etc). The seller said they're interchangeable, and maybe they are to an extent but it still isn't wise to have both types in your engine as they have slightly different fuel flow rates.
After that experience, I didn't want to buy re-manufactured ones, I wanted new. Of all the injectors that fit our 4.0L engines (Neons being the most popular) I found that the Cadillac ones were the cheapest to buy new. Rock auto had them at $35 each, found under 2001 Cadillac DeVille.
I put them in a few days ago and I have only put a few dozen miles on them, but so far they're much less temperamental then the crappy ones I put on and they're EV6 (4-hole) so they should be better on gas millage. I can't say for sure because I also put on a cold air intake and throttle body spacer (it was almost free with the CAI) at the same time as the injector swap. I also cleaned my idle air control valve and my idle is waaaaaaay smoother now, like a brand new engine.
The 923 deville injectors are 230 cc/min@3bar. The 784 neon injectors are 238cc/min@3bar. My stock '96-'98 injectors are, after doing a little math, 243cc/min@3bar. The ECU will trim the fuel pulses so the exactly fuel flow won't matter, but at Wide Open Throttle it's possible that it might not be enough. I'm not worried about it though.
Again, for my '97 I needed the wiring adapters that came with my Ebay injectors. I'm sure you could find some if you look around.
So now you know something new! Cheers

These injectors you are talking about, are they the ones from the Northstar engine? Fat body half green and half black? Anyways, if they work good for you, great. If anyone else wants a set, let me know. I have probably about 100 of these laying around.
Interesting. I dont have a set of those. I did however find a set of #5277739. I think they are the correct ones for the older XJs. Says they are out of a Neon so might be the right ones. Looks like my buddy is getting a free set of 4 hole injectors!
