Default 2001 4.0l swapped into 99 4.0l xj

I have an opportunity to buy a wrecked 2001 xj with a great engine and transmission. The engine has a new head and sounds awesome. I have a 1999 xj with 300k on it and rave to change the engine. Os this a straight forward swap I will simply swap engine and transmission from the 01 into my 99 along with the exhaust and write harness and pcm. I did the slip yoke eliminator on my np231 myself so I will just swap that onto the 01 transmission. Will the wire harness from the 2001 engine plug right into the body harness to run my gauges and other body systems?

Does your xj have a distributor and wires or coil pack? i dont believe the XJs got the coil pack until 2000? if thats the case it may need the ECM and harness.

Yeah my jeep is a distributor engine but I do have the entire engine bay harness and computer so I thought swapping all of it would resolve any compatibility issues. I intend to swap out the trans and engine and complete engine bay harness from the 01 and reuse my transfer case since I already did the SYE.

The dizzy and coil packs can be kept on the vehicle getting the swap. That's easy.

2001 had different ports on the head and the heads are prone to cracking......
