replacing fuel pump on my XJ today Happy New Year.
Installed Reman Engine in October
One Piece of advice. Dont waste your time trying to replace the Pump without Removing the Tank. The Tank is Plastic and Not heavy. You can pull it by dropping the Tank down but the Pump Regulator Assembly is spring loaded and getting it in the tank with the Seal properly installed is not possible; I know I Tried . getting the fuel fill hose clamps off is not as hard as it looks.
Well I thought I didnt have much to do today but the Jeep thought otherwise. I was just going to do a simple thermostat housing gasket. But no, I drain the coolant and it has a nice brown tint to it. Was about the same when I swapped the radiator out 5000 miles ago. So now doing a coolant flush. Good news is the thermostat housing is no longer leaking and its a beautiful 75 degree day (I actually broke a sweat). The clouds rolled in and made it 10 times nicer out. Back to work!
I know its not horrible but still not the right color. Looks a lot more brown in person.

I don't even want to hear about it. Replaced the "thermostat" if that's what you call what came out on the Comanche today.
The coolant was brown, no green. Flushed it out best I could for an hour or so, did I mention it was 21 degrees and the water I got on the driveway froze? That was awful. Heat definitely works better in the Comanche now. I guess when I was testing it with the ir gun it had sat long enough to just be 195, but driving it down the highway the heat sucked and the temp gauge never really moved so I decided I had to replace whatever was in there. Good heat and the needle sits right below 210 now.

The rest of it probably rusted out and dissolved. At least that's what I'm telling myself. It's got a new radiator and cooling hoses so hopefully it was in the old radiator?
Bare ground wires are backup redundancy. More grounding points the better. lol

Thats about how the silver Jeep looks. Coolant came out solid rust color. Sorry about the weather too, not my problem lol.
Installed a new XRC bumper on the XJ this weekend. Need to find a couple BFG M/T's to wrap around the matching spares, then give it a good evaluation on and off road.
Holy poo! ..... I took a second look at that pic. Can't say as I've ever seen that in all my years on a t-stat before. Bad and corroded to hell, installed upside-down, but never missing half of it. Just... wow.

Currently taking a break from cutting parts of the floors out. Seems everywhere I turn there is more and more rust and I just keep cutting and cutting. Going to make myself some food and get back to it. I am worried about cutting and welding near the fuel and brake lines on the drivers side. Any tips? Also, replaced the plugs, cap, rotor, and air filter. Wires come in tomorrow, but had time so I figured it would be fine to go ahead and put the rest in. Here is how the old stuff looked not sure why one spark plug looked like it did, any ideas? Also replaced the fuel filter again
