Default Low Oil Pressure after Oil Change

Hey guys,

I just changed my oil and noticed that all of a sudden my oil pressure is much lower than normal. Usually it's around 40 and now it's around around 10. I've attached a picture of the oil pressure gauge.

please let me know what you guys think it could be.

For starters, be sure that the connector for the oil pressure sending unit wasn't bumped when you changed out the oil filter resulting in a connectivity issue.

The oil pressure sending unit is located directly above the oil filter.

if that doesnt fix it, my next question would be what oil and filter went in?

Oh god give me a break. Do some research before blindly following other haters.

But I would spin another filter on, regardless of what you used.

eww im sure whoever did your oil change put yucky oil in there.... That being said it looks like they used 5w20 or 30 as opposed to 10w30. The last person who did my oil change stuck 5w20 in there and got your result. Next oil change i stuck mobil 1 conventional inside and when running normal temps when the oil is all warmed up it stays on the second line and 40 psi when revving at 1200 rpms. Its all in the oil weight for alot of these engines especially at 200k+ miles mine has 204k and next change im putting pennzoil high mileage 10w 30..... Not sure but may use a wix oil filter as well. Right now is an experiment on what my engine likes, Seems to be good with mobile 1 so far with slight ticking at random times. People had good luck with rotella, Pennzoil and mobile 1 all high mileage variants. So if you can try to play around with different brands of oils and keep it at 10w 30 dont let anyone else say otherwise.... Unless you live in a cold area then switch to something a little lighter, I forgot what exact weight is used for winter but i never payed much attention being i live in florida and doesnt get cold here. Also No clue on what rep fram has tho seems negative oh well theyre a decent filter to get you by despite some saying they break down after a while and release gunk into your engine, I dont know. i work at a tle shop at wamart and use fram everything basically and one customer hasnt come back even with 10k miles on a single change and inspecting the filter and the internal type filters too. I may add jeep 4.0 oil gets HOT!!!!! Also i play hot potato with the filter after i take it off and god forbid it slips from your hand and gets hot oil all over your face.

I with you here. I've used Fram for a couple decades on other vehicles without any problems but for some reason have had poor results on my Cherokees.

I've since made the switch to Napa Gold/Wix and am very happy with the results.

I too ran frams for years tell i had low oil pressure at idle in a ford truck i had.I asked my master ase mechanic step father and was told if its not wix or napa gold do not run it and i have stuck to that since on everything. Its easier the filter or he might have bumped a wire to the sending unit or something like that.

Totally agree.

Decades ago Fram was good. Things change.

It's pretty bad when the best feature of an oil filter is on the OUTSIDE!!!!!
